I'm having trouble getting this drive to show up in disk utility during installation of Mavericks. Snow Leopard detects and installs fine on the Intel.

I can swap my windows drive (120GB Samsung 830) to the same SATA port and Mavericks sees the Samsung correctly. I've tried pre-formatting the Intel drive with the SL disk utility but Mavericks still does not see the Intel.

What could this be? Why would one SSD work but not the other with the same port and settings and only in Mavericks?

I have a GIGABYTE GA-Z87X-UD5H. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

The Intel SSD works with the Marvell controller.. just not the Intel controller. I think I'll just leave it as is. I probably will want to upgrade the SSD to something bigger soon anyways.

I cloned over to a 240GB Crucial M500 and that works fine with the Intel controller. I guess it was just an Intel SSD + Intel controller weirdness.

As another data point - same issue (and same resolution) using a Gigabyte Z97 board.
