Skylake Hackintosh - Poor FCP X Performance on High Sierra

I tried playing around with the system ID but that led to other problems. With the 0x19120000 System ID for the iGPU, the secondary widescreen monitor connected to the DisplayPort on the R9 270X is detected by macOS but only displays a black screen. When I used the 0x191200BB system ID, both...

Skylake Hackintosh - Poor FCP X Performance on High Sierra

Thanks for your input. I have a Gigabyte Z170X-Gaming 5 motherboard. So I enabled the iGPU but then I had to connect one of my monitors to the onboard HDMI port instead of my R9 270X. I saw a huge improvement in FCP export times but it looks like my R9 270X is not being used at all now -- it...

Skylake Hackintosh - Poor FCP X Performance on High Sierra

So, I have been using a Hackintosh for almost two years now. Ever since I have upgraded to High Sierra though, I have noticed a serious decline in its performance. And this is even after a clean install over the last weekend. Day to day performance of the machine is fine. I can browse Chrome...

Hi @fransali, did you manage to solve the problem? I have a AMD R9 270X and have been noticing extremely long render times in FCP as well.

    Unable to OC Skylake Hackintosh

You used the unlocked multiplier to OC, which is working just fine. Overclocking via the BCC Clock is not working. I switched to a 6600K, and I'm currently running it at 4.4GHz.

    Unable to OC Skylake Hackintosh

Hmm something else seems wrong. I can OC my 6600K to 4.4GHz easily under OS X. Does the BIOS say 4.6GHz? Then its just a matter of you editing the config.plist and updating the CPU related kexts perhaps?

    Unable to OC Skylake Hackintosh

BCLK overclock works just fine in Windows. Whatever the case might be, good decision to go for the 6600K. At least my mistake will help others. :P

    Unable to OC Skylake Hackintosh

Thanks for your reply. I had tried everything, including what you said above, to no avail. Ended up buying a 6600K. OCing it with multiplier, it works fine. Changing the BCLK frequency leads me to run into the same set of issues

    Unable to OC Skylake Hackintosh

Hey guys, For some reason, I am unable to successfully overclock my Skylake Hackintosh. Its not the overclock which is the problem here, since I can successfully boot into Windows 10 after OCing. I have also tested the stability of my PC by stressing it using various softwares. However, OS X El...

    10.11.0-10.11.3 Skylake Starter Guide

Skylake Starter Guide Hey buddy, Can you tell me how did you generate an SSDT with the OC'd turbo frequency? For some reason, my Hackintosh stops booting if I OC it. I have a Core i5 - 6500 and a Gigabyte Z170X-Gaming 5 mobo. I know how to create a normal SSDT for the CPU, but not sure how...
