There's just as much that's broken as what there is that works. Between the iMessage unique hardware ID's being used to login and the App store DRM based on the same system I see this as pretty much the end of the whole proposition of building a hackintosh. The bottom line is that if you want...
I have done some pretty extensive testing to arrive at this information, I've tested on a new MacPro that a friend has and tested on several different monitors (including an apple cinema display).
The behavior is reproducible on my hackintosh as well as his new MacPro.
The issue has to do...
I'm very surprised that none of the major developers have acknowledged or even indicated looking into this problem. For many people getting into the Apple ecosystem means getting into the DRM side of things too. The Mac App store, iTunes, and all the DRM therein. You simply cannot operate an...
I can't speak to what DRM is used in Vudu, but Netflix/silverlight work just fine with no issues. This particular problem is specific to iTunes when playing back protected content.
Well all we have are suspicions. The console is of no help at all, and all we have so far are behaviors. Like when I enable my Haswell's GPU, but leave my discrete GPU on (an EVGA GTX 570, mobo is a Gigabyte z78 ud5h) I get audio but blank video. Console indicates zilch. Tried all firmwares...
I would think this issue is big enough to defeat a rather significant chunk of the reason to go with a Hackintosh. This not working should really be a front-and-center issue that the entire brain trust focuses on. I'm rather surprised it isn't.
I don't find fault with your posting. However the consensus is that we're all screwed. This is a by-design software issue of Apple only allowing protected content to play back on an Apple monitor using displayport. Without that specific environment, the hdcp handshake does not occur. It's...
I just wanted to chime in and thank you for posting that. I was wanting to use the 5,1 definition for the AGPM features, and I had forgotten to delete that kext. I'm on a ga-z87x-ud5h and that helped me out quite a bit. I was having the exact same issue.
Again, thanks :)
Man, I hope not. Below the radar is the best way to be. Survival through obscurity. Don't get me wrong, I think this community is a treasure trove and does a great thing for people.
Building my hack has taught me a great deal about OSX and about the hardware/software interaction. It's...
Well :banghead:
Out of curiosity I tried that and I couldn't find the same strings. So, I instead tried searching for the new settings, namely 78 E8 83 F8 03 7C 11 instead of 78 E8 83 F8 02 7C 11 and found that it was there, already patched.
Turns out the updater didn't update my...
Yeah the old patches are no longer applicable. The hex strings changed 3 times during the 10.7.2 testing through several builds, like they were updating the drivers. Some folks found the correct hex strings to change up until build 11C43, and how they did it, I'd love to know :)
The 11C43...
Has anyone seen the OpenCL fix or found out how to find it for the new 10.7.2 final build that went public?
The old OpenCL fix doesn't work anymore as the GeForceGLDriver is a newer version and the old 11C43 fix doesn't work anymore.
Many thanks if anyone has info on this :)
As of 10.7.2 beta 11C37, OpenGL works after sleep. Slight performance increase.
My nova bench score went up from 1776, mostly because of the framerate. Still crap Cinebench but my xbench score goes from 244 to 312 fps. There's a new GLDriver that also has OpenCL support "out of the box" for...
Thanks for the heads up on that. I've eliminated switching to mode 3, and my nova bench score is at 1776 now, Cinebench is still 30fps. Interesting discrepancy between the benchmarks though. I think at this point there's just a bug in the OpenGL on 5xx cards.
Using the iMac 12,2 system definition dropped my cinebench score from 30 fps down to 10. eVGA GTX 570 here.
Going back to MacPro 5,1
Performance is still godawful, tried all kinds of settings for the agpm.kext. I'd really like to find out more about the settings for threshold high/low and...
I'm not seeing where he edited his AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext plist, mine didn't work until I changed it. After making that change and rebooting OpenGL started working really good.
