You should install eSata and as the only drive powered up in your machine. After installation you can power up your other drives.

There is a RAM cleaning app in the App store that looks like a stick of Ram that will automatically clean up used Ram. I use it on my hack and my Mac. I think it's called Ram Cleaner. Im in Windows right now so I can't look it up at the moment. It may help you.

Yeah, I understand. I have 2 cards in and it causes all kinds of hell with High Sierra. Mine is dead too on my 10.13 test ssd after trying supplemental update. My 10.12.6 ssd works fine. I'll be waiting for a point release before trying again.:)

Just an Idea but you might try removing your card and boot from Igpu with your Bios set to Igpu and then do the Nvidia driver package to enable your Gpu.

I'm a little disappointed that my dual 1070's cause problems for install and updates. I will have to remove one of the gpu's for each point release to update. Looks like I'll stick with my 10.12.6 ssd for the time being. I may build a small mini like Coffee Lake machine with dedicated Mac OS...

Can't use the igpu with your gpu I don't believe.

Do the old drivers need uninstalled before updating or will the present Nvidia drivers give notice that a new version is available? Will I need to enable sip again to update?

I was able to get mine working again by inserting the new apfs.efi. It did not install the supplemental. It just updated iTunes. Running Timemachine backup now and downloading supplemental from post . I will wait for latest Nvidia drivers before update.

Apple has thrown a monkey wrench in the way of hacks with Nvidia cards. We use to be able to update Sierra and not worry about the graphics driver. Now it seems to mater for High Sierra. I will have to take both of my cards out to get back to High Sierra after update. After that may have to...

I was finally able to update and get my 1070 going but the latest supplemental update to fix the password problem broke it again so beware.

I updated finally but had to remove booth video cards and do the install on igpu. Everything worked great until I installed the supplemental update to fix the password issue. That update broke it again. This was all done on a fresh install to a spare ssd for experimenting so my 12.6 is still...
