There's a lot to be said for getting some REALLY good thermal paste, and do your research on the best water cooling system you can afford... and if you're OC'ing, don't try & push it to the point of breaking when your everyday use for those kinds of apps....
Sadly, I'm not going to be a lot of help right now. I've actually done another "PowerUp" to this build, and now have Gigabyte Z490 VISION D motherboard, and i9-10850K processor. Hopefully someone else here can chime in to provide some insights for you. IMHO, I've always had the best success...
That's for the Sabrent m.2 NVMe solid-state drive... 2TB storage capacity, and the newest (Probably "Rocket" model) that supports PCIe v4 (which technically isn't supported yet because our CPUs aren't there yet-even though mobo supports it).
Not sure if you saw my earlier post from a week or 2 ago, but there's actually an F6 version as well - yet it's not on the Gigabyte Support > BIOS site. The only way to get it is to use Windows 10 and then launch the Gigabyte @BIOS app that installs from the in-box CD-ROM. That was initially...
Is everyone currently on F7c? When I was still using my Sapphire NITRO+ RX580 SE, I noticed that (on my system), there was no longer an "Initial Display Output" option for choosing iGPU vs. PCIe in F7c. Mind you, this was also the same time when I was having problems getting CSM to stay...
In the early stages of a 2nd "Power Up" to my 360/VR Production Build "PowerUp" build (in Golden Builds). This time around, using OpenCore for starters. New mobo, CPU, GPU, and different boot drive.
Upgraded/different components:
New motherboard: Gigabyte Z490 Vision D
New CPU: Intel...
@CaseySJ - do you mean for any/all WD m.2 SSDs? I could swear that, when I was reading about compatible storage devices, WD's homegrown controller on their m.2 drives is preferred/recommended. I was actually considering Upgrading to 1T using this WD Black 1TB m.2 SSD. Or are you suggesting...
If I'm reading this right, you have a 32GB kit of RAM (2 @ 16GB ea). But you've only got 1 module installed? I could **swear** that memory needs to be installed in pairs (or that used to be the practice). And when you only populate 2 of the 4 memory slots, there are 2 in particular that get...
Thanks so much for sharing this! Just wanted to let you know that, along with your recommended BIOS settings, this EFI works successfully with BIOS v F11, and booting into 10.15.7 with Clover 5119. I just used this to "fix" a few issue with my other half's music production...
The issue with my card seemed to be that this hardware configuration didn't like the card being set on "Compute" mode (which was the OoB setting...and which one would *think* would be the most compatible):
When I moved the switch to the right into "Game" mode, I got a single beep & things...
Hmmm... Then they didn't make it terribly intuitive that this was the switch's functionality. As you can see, there is no indicator of the state represented by both positions (silent & OC - this is the position it's been in all this time since original installation):
What the heck - I'll give...
1. There is a tiny switch on the mainboard (underside near backplane), but it's labeled BIOS Switch.
2. PS is actually Corsair CX 750M (and looks like I need to update my GB post! Still shows original 650W)
3. This card actually has both a 4x2 *and* a 3x2 power connection on the top of the card...
Here's the head-scratcher: It **did** work in this motherboard (no 5-beeps), once I flashed the BIOS to F6 (and continued to F7c). And it **did** work in my 360/VR Production Build "Power Up" (see details in Golden Builds). In essence, I was trying to do a 2nd "Power Up" to that build by only...
Just to confirm: The NITRO+ RX580 SE also gave me 5 beeps when put in my partner's system:
Gigabyte Z390 AORUS Pro WiFi
i9-9900k
Samsung 970 PRO - 512GB
G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series (2x16GB) DDR4 3600
Looks like I'm going shopping. He's almost over the finish line with his 2nd CD project, and...
...and that's EXACTLY what I'm about to do. Funny, it worked like a champ when I had it in my initial 360/VR PowerUp config with the Z370 board... Go figure!!
