Greets, Tonymac Collecitve!
I'm working on an upgrade to my 360/VR Production Build - Upgrading mobo, CPU, RAM, and changing to Gigabyte AORUS RX580 (since Final Cut Pro is optimized for AMD & I was using NVIDIA before).
Upon reading some of the initial posts about Coffee Lake being virtually...
I've been away from the forum for a while, but trying to play catch-up. I'm building a new CustoMac for some 4K video/360/VR video editing & production. Many of the relatively-new Z170 boards advertise Thunderbolt 3 support, plus include 1 or 2 USB 3.1 Type-C connections (aka "Thunderbolt 3"...
Here's a nice recap of what's under the hood when you update Logic Pro X to v10.1:

In post 170 of the Haswell-E + X99 Motherboard Temporary Guide - OS X 10.10.0, user bomerr reports making a successful build with X99/Haswell-E, (including working iMessage) using a "blended" solution of UniBeast/MultiBeast (the OP), followed by installation of Clover & various file copying &...
I know a LOT of you are chomping at the bit to hit that bleeding edge and upgrade your studio rig to Yosemite within hours/days/weeks after release.
Historically, most DAWs and related music apps (plug-ins, VSTs, etc) are not fully supported the day that Apple releases a new OS.
So...
I've done a couple searches & can't seem to find any threads to help with my particular use case, so I thought I'd pose the issue/question:
On my Music Studio v2.0 build, I want to install a dedicated GPU to the build, and use that as my only video source. Basically - switch from HD 4000...
I just scanned through all of the links in the Buyer's Guide for video card options (both recommended & alternate). Is it my imagination, or do we not have any video cards that have mini DP any more?
I have an Cinema Display in the studio - the non-Thunderbolt/mini DP variety. I've been...
Hey kids -
For those of you who are in the market for a PCIe card for your CustoMac, I seem to have stumbled across what appears to be a good candidate from my local Fry's store:
TRENDnet TEG-ECTX
Looks like it can also be purchased from Amazon...
Fresh install of Mavericks 10.9.2 on GA-Z87N-WiFi with i5 4670K (16GB RAM, Samsung 840 EVO SSD), plus latest MultiBeast 6.2.1 (using the MB settings file posted at the beginning of this Golden Build topic thread). Everything working like a champ initially: analog audio via my Bose desktop...
Avid, Maker of Pro Tools, Now Losing Money Faster and Delisted from NASDAQ
Already reading speculation about the ProTools division possibly being acquired... **sigh**
On 2nd thought:
"Dear Apple...." :ugeek:
...until you check with all your DAW and hardware vendors to make sure that they have tested & certified compatibility with Mavericks.
I just had to SMH as I read the end of ultrazone's most recent post about getting all fired up to install Mavericks on his master audio build/Golden Build and...
I'm already drooling & saving my $$ for the 1T model to host my VST/sample libraries -

(I couldn't resist)
Now that Apple has definitively put to bed all the rumors about the demise of the Mac Pro, I think we need another topic to buzz about & get ourselves worked into a tizzy!! And what better topic than another very popular Apple product for musicians: Logic Studio...
Hardware components: my Recording Studio 2.0 build (Core i7 3770K | GA-Z77X-UP5 TH | 16GB | HD4000).
Just for yuks & giggles, I updated my ML installer just now to 10.8.3, built a new UniBeast key, unplugged my good/working boot SSD (plus my other drives) and popped in my spare SSD....just...
Just saw this on AVID/PT Facebook page, so thought I'd share. Since Digidesign/Pro Tools/AVID has been doing this probably the longest in commercial rooms, suggest reading for "best practice" for other DAWs as well. ENJOY!
