Hello!! I fixed my old computer (i9 9900k+vega64) with a second hand z390 I found in a shop near me but during the research...well the upgrade demon has been unleashed! so...I would like to make a new computer...last one before a new mac studio m2 max when I will find it at a good second hand price.

z790 or b760? I would like to balance the costs to take a 14700kf or just K cpu and ddr5 (6000 or 5600?)
gigabyte, asus or asrock are all ok?
do you think my vega could be still ok or maybe I can look around for a rx6900xt?

tough questions.... :D

Hello,

Before more tougher questions may come to mind, you should read here :

Also, take into account some other aspects :

- connectivity ( Ethernet, Wifi )
- compatible storage / video card / memory
- usage with other operating systems ( Windows / Linux / multiboot /virtualization )
- availability / price
- etc

As far as we can see, here are some facts :

- macOS Big Sur : latest update is 11.7.10 (September 11, 2023) is already dead.

- macOS Monterey : latest update is 12.7.3 (January 22, 2024) could have a dying breath later this year ( November 2024)

- Ventura: latest update 13.6.4 (January 22, 2024), mainstream, could reach end-of-life by the end of 2025

- Sonoma : latest update 14.3.1 (February 8, 2024), mainstream, could reach end-of-life by the end of 2026

- then, at WWDC in June 2024 Apple may / may not release a final Intel-based version of macOS.

.... time is ticking :)

Cheers !
