Asus PCE-AC68 802.11ac card

Serious troubles here on my MacPro 3.1 (Early 2008) with this card in Mavericks 10.9.2:

Since it should be supported out of the box, I have no idea what to do now. It should work, but it doesn't. Any ideas would be highly appreciated! Thanks.
 
All my fault: I had deactivated WMM on the Netgear R7000 router, so the router fell back to the a protocol. Now I am back in the ac protocol, still with low performance below 200 mbps, but the drivers seem to work. In Windows 7, there is 600 mbps available, so it's now about tweaking, probably with a WRT firmware of the Netgear router.
 
I have this same card working on my Hac (iMac14,2) alongside an ASUS RT-66U. It seems to only want to connect at 600Mbps; how did you guys get 1300?

EDIT: tried changing system definition to MacPro3,1 just to see what would happen and nothing changed. Also tried moving it to another slot--and nothing. I did confirm that my router is fine, my Macbook Pro from work connected at 1300 with no issue, so it seems like it's just this card that's not connecting properly.

Any suggestions?

What router do you use?
 
big problem:

under win8.1 I get +- 1035 mbps according to the asus tool, no problem transfering with 74MB/s from NAS

but with osx it says

So wifi n only :( and transmition rate 217????? leads to 3-4MBps

My router is the ASUS RT-AC66U

When booting with MacPro 3.1 Profile I get ac, but still very poor connection of 4MB/s :(

Well I gave up, Im using the USB Version that runs fine at about 50MB/S max = 400mbps

thats only 2/3 of the pci-e Version but still nice

Hi there, which one do you use exactly? And are you able to get 11ac at 5GHz working with that card?
 
Replaced my 5th Gen Airport Extreme router with a Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 router (model R7000).

Popped an ASUS PCE-AC68 in yesterday on Mavericks.

It works OOB, recognized as a Third party card. To get it recognized as Airport Extrem. I had to hex edit /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AirPortBrcm4360.kext/Contents/MacOS/AirPortBrcm4360

and change

30 6B 10 00 00 75 0D

to

30 6B 10 00 00 90 90

As others recommended in various posts.


In Network Utility, it recognizes the card as 600mbps (over 450 before). However, in System Info -> Wifi, we see:

Transmit rate = 405, which is the same as I get on my other hack with an N card (this is still higher than I got on the old router as the new router is faster).

In each case the router is only about 15 feet from the computer, so I don't think it's a signal issue.


In comparison, on my Macbook Pro Retina I get transmit rates up to 1035 (usually at 878 however). Which is terrific.

Either way, my actual transfer rates are about the same when moving big files around.

Anyone have any tips on getting it to recognize at 1300mbps? Or, more importantly, register a higher transfer rate?
 
I just installed the AC68 about a week ago. Disappointed to not have the 1300 as well. But thanks to all for the tips and kext info.

Still waiting to hear about how to get this thing fully operational.
