I have found that the Terminal command syntax for creating a MacOS installer is a little simpler than that shown in the tonymax guides. The following works fine:
Note that nothing beyond the above is required to create a working installer... apparently, the further description of the target in the guide is ignored.
sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Ventura.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/USB
