Can't mount external usb 3.0 hard drive

Not sure if it’s the drive, the port or a kext, but I have a Seagate Expansion usb 3.0 drive (STAY3000102) that will mount when the systems starts, but when the system sleeps or if the drive is ejected there is no way to get the drive back. Even restarting the system sometimes doesn’t work.

Note: the drive itself does not have an on/off switch. It merely sleeps when the system sleeps and comes on when the system comes on. So I am tempted to take the drive out of the seagate external case and put it in an external case with a traditional on/off switch.

Any ideas?

PS -- I should add I am running Lion 10.7.4

Problem solved. Issue was with the hardware. Take the drive out of the case and place in a new one, problem solved.
