I tried the Multibeast this morning on a Win 7/SL dual boot. So far, I am having trouble. I installed fine using Tony's P55 with NVidia 2xx Boot CD. OSX installs fine. I then ran Multibeast.
I checked all I thought was appropriate for my board (UD4), using the Realtek LAN driver and the Chameleon RC4 as the bootloader. I rebooted after installation. I walked out of the room and came back and picked the OSX from the EFI bootloader. I didnt realize I booted in through the boot CD. I got back to the desktop and LAN did not work. Yesterday I tried an install that seemed to work using the files on the Boot CD for P55 and 2xx. I later killed that build when 4 apple updates killed my video, forcing a reinstall. The four kexts on the Boot CD got my LAN working however yesterday. When I look at Tonys inline help in the Multibeast app it says choose one or other for LAN between the two choices, Realtek or Intel. The four kexts I used yesterday installed both as they were two of the four files.
EDIT: Tried installing the Intel LAN driver as well with Kext Helper, but still no LAN. I thought since installing both of them yesterday and it worked that I could do it again. Nope. Also, should there be anything after all this in the Library\Extensions folder? I thought I saw that as the path for the Multibeast install...
I used these options:
Chameleon RC4 ALC889a NVEnabler RealtekR1000SL Intel826566M DSDT GA-P55-UD4 TonyMacx86 Theme Unsupported.plist iMac11,1smbios.plist All standard Snow Leopard Kexts Show All Files Kext Utilities
Additionally, the Chamleon I installed as part of the Multibeast is not being picked up on boot. I used the EFI on the boot CD to boot back into OSX and then used the manual method via terminal to mark the partition active, but it is still not picking up the RC4 Chameleon. I even went back into OSX and installed it manually again. No dice.
So, I'm stuck at booting from the TonyMac boot CD, and have no LAN. Any thoughts? I have not installed the 10.6.2 combo update yet.
EDIT: Tried installing the 10.6.2 combo update after booting into OSX from the boot CD. It did the same thing as yesterday when I did it from the 'software updates' from within OSX. It kills my system. Won't boot after the update, no matter where I get it from. Looks like it will boot, see all the usual stuff on the screen but at the point I expect the screen to go blank and then have the desktop appear, it instead reboots. Looks like rebuilding from scratch again. Prob wont use Multibeast this time....

Didnt see your post. The same thing is happening to me as well. Mine just sits at 'Loading Operating System' screen... and Chameleon nevers gets picked up. neoapple wrote: I have been having a ton of trouble getting my i7 system up and running. I keep reinstalling SL and trying different combinations and each time after the bootloader tries to boot the HD I get a black screen.
My components: Gigabyte P55M-UD2 (rev. 1.0) / i7 860 / 4GB Cosair DDR3 1600mhz (2x2GB) / WD SATA 1 TB / XFX 9400 GT 1GB.
What should I be selecting in MultiBeast?
Please help me find some sanity.

Please help me find some sanity. Thanks for testing! I really appreciate the feedback! Ok, I don't know why you can't boot after using the MultiBeast, but I'm about to test those same options on my fresh drive. I'll post back if I get the same results. I just re-checked the options to make sure everything was being installed correctly- you shouldn't need both ethernet options for your UD4- only RealtekR1000. The Intel stuff is for Intel boards only- it will overwrite your IONetworkingFamily.kext- you should run the 10.6.2 update, then install what you need from the Multibeast. I was saving this info for the upcoming guide, but here goes... Regardless of your DSDT, network, graphics, sound, etc... to get the system bootable, here are the options to check: Attachment: Screen shot 2010-02-13 at 11.35.40 AM.png Also, if you have a DSDT in the list, you can use only these options: Attachment: Screen shot 2010-02-13 at 11.38.48 AM.png You can always run MultiBeast again to get your graphics, network, etc... working. These are suggestions to start with. Good luck!

Thanks for your guidance Tony. I just reinstalled the Win 7 portion of the dual boot and will be installing the OSX next. I will give the Multibeast another shot. At what point do I install the 10.6.2 combo update? It seems to kill my system every time. Is there a sequence to when it needs to be applied? Also, I did try with just the Realtek1000SL driver alone but did not work for some reason?!

After you do that and update to 10.6.2 then you should use his utility.

Just released 0.4- I had to remove the Intel-BOXDP55WG- the person who submitted it had incorrectly edited it. If anyone has a working and correctly edited DSDT, I'd be happy to include it in the next release!

Ok- I keep thinking of stuff to add as I test, so this utility will be updated probably a few times a day for a while. Just made version 0.6, which includes optional Repair Permissions and Rebuild Caches. I figured if all you're doing is installing apps and Chameleon, you don't need to have the thing do those Disk Utilities automatically... Also, added a EasyBeast option, which includes everything you need just by checking 1 box. This should help! Attachment: Screen shot 2010-02-13 at 4.12.31 PM.png Remember, I haven't perfected this yet, so use at your own risk! I need people's feedback- thanks in advance!

Maybe I'll try the new build. Still having issues here.
This last time:
* Installed OSX from Tonys P55 Nvidia 2xx Boot CD and Retail SL. Installed fine. * Installed 10.5 EFI, deleted .boot * Followed INSTALL ADDITIONAL KEXTS TO SYSTEM/LIBRARY/EXTENSIONS guide. Ethernet still not working * Followed UPDATE TO 10.6.2 guide * Used Multibeast to install the suggestions from second screenshot, plus my DSDT specific to the board * Used disk utility to repair permissions
Can boot to Chamelon. If I select OSX it runs through two screen of loading then restarts the PC. Can boot into OSX through Boot CD, though lose graphics, etc. Still no ethernet/sound.

Hi Tony,
I will definitly try your installer. I've got to know, since I'm with an asus p7p55d, do I choose the p7p55d evo in the dsdt section of the installer?
By the way I tell me if it's the right way to install (fresh one ):
1. the tonymac cd installer 2. the OSX Apple Snowleopard disk 2 the multibeast 3 the 10.6.2 upgrade ?
Thanks a lot for what you do
Regards

Tried the 0.6 installer and I'm close now. I'm installed to 10.6. I did retail install then used the EasyBeast with additional selections for graphics, sound, LAN and DSDT. Booted to OSX without Boot CD, a first for me. Came up as a MacPro 3,1 with no LAN or sound. So ran MultiBeast again to enable 64-bit plus 11,1 then tried reinstalling LAN and sound. Rebooted back into OSX without CD and situtation is the same. No LAN, no sound, and my i7 860 comes up as 2.8Ghz Unkown and though it detects the correct amount of memory (4GB), it shows it as 1333 instead of 1600. Any ideas? Backed everything up with Time Machine. Any clues on how to fix sound (889a) and LAN (RTL8111D / GA-P55M-UD4) and then how do I upgrade to 10.6.2. Everytime I try using the combo update I kill my system...
It's close now I think, love to finish this up and start installing apps.
