Because a lot of Ryzentosh owners use this kext, it would be good to accommodate this weird version number.
If you are splitting the version string using the dot "." as a delimiter, then each split could be examined from left to right looking for a non-digit. If a non-digit such as "f" is...
@Inqnuam,
Have you tried using HackinDROM 2.2.1 to update from OpenCore 0.9.9 to the new 1.0.0?
In my case (Asus X670E Gene -- AMD Ryzen), the update process begins but ends with Illegal Hardware Instruction:
% pwd
/Applications/HackinDROM.app/Contents/MacOS
% ./HackinDROM

I am not sure about the Asus ThunderboltEX 4, but the both @Elias64Fr and @caley13 were able to flash their ASRock Thunderbolt 4 AIC with very good results. Elias used a CH341A external programmer while Caley flashed it from NixOS (yes, no need for external flasher).
GC-Maple Ridge may work properly on a Z690 motherboard. We’ll just need to flash modified firmware. I was only able to test on Z390 Designare, and this system would not enter sleep.
Changes were made to ProvideCurrentCpuInfo kernel quirk in recent versions of OpenCore. It’s best to update to latest OC and check this again.
BIOS F6 is okay.

Let's see if this makes any difference.
Loading the Thunderbolt kernel module is not actually the issue. There is a problem with ASRock Thunderbolt 4 add-in-card. In the example below, I've installed the ASRock AIC into RP21 (PCH-lane slot) in my Gigabyte Z390 Designare, and also enabled on-board Titan Ridge.
Running NixOS, we get...
