    Dual-boot or Parallels?

I do have another concern: I have the Dell Optiplex 7060 running Windows 10 perfectly, and I'm ready to pop out the Windows HDD and use the swapping bay as recommended above. The hardware configuration doesn't seem to be a problem, but the installation guide for High Sierra recommends...

    Dual-boot or Parallels?

Amazon says it's 'Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock.' I'll try to find it on NewEgg or eBay. edit: I think I found it.

    Dual-boot or Parallels?

So that's both Windows and OSX partitions on the same drive? I was wondering if there was a way to use two separate drives and override Dell's tendency to boot only on that one port. (My machine, a Dell Optiplex 7060, has two built-in 2.5" slots)

    Dual-boot or Parallels?

I'm still thinking about a 'dual boot' machine with two separate SSD drives (I have my reasons, and a lot of those reasons are problems I'm having with Parallels.). However, I have found that Dell computers (such as the one I have) will only boot from the one drive connected to the blue SATA...

    consolidate wall warts?

Dear friends: Like many of us, I have several AC-to-DC 12V and 5V "wall warts" powering a variety of things: USB hubs, KVM switchers, sound systems et'c. It's a bit of clutter and it takes up a lot of outlet real estate. But I have a proposed solution. I haven't talked this over with an...

New SSDs added to the recommended list of the Buyer's Guide

The WD Black 770 card is just about comparable in price... what I'm looking for is the speed advantage of a NVMe card over a SATA-III SSD drive, particularly if I'm going to be running Windows in an emulation sandbox like Parallels - which is RAM-hungry and can be processor-intensive.

New SSDs added to the recommended list of the Buyer's Guide

Thanks for the word. Looking at the WD Black 770, 1 TB, still thinking about a heat sink.

a question about the usage of the tonymac86 logo

Dear friends: I read the page of Terms and Rules regarding the usage of the tonymac86 logo as a user's avatar. What I didn't see is any words about whether I could put a tonymac86 logo on my finished machine, something like this: ...right next to the Dell logo. It's a nice Apple-themed...

New SSDs added to the recommended list of the Buyer's Guide

With regard to my build-in-process: the Dell Optiplex 7060 arrived with the OS (Windows 10  ) installed on a 256GB NVMe card - designated as the C: drive, the main boot drive. I've been reading around this place, and a few people have used a Western Digital 750 series NVMe card as the...

    Dual-boot or Parallels?

Aren't there some third-party plug-ins for NTFS? More to the point, can I install WinDOS 7 on an exFAT drive and have it stay exFAT?

    Dual-boot or Parallels?

I also have concerns about having two drives on my machine. I know that macOS can recognize and work with exFAT and NTFS, but I've always seen 'drive not recognized, want to format it?' when plugging an external HFS+ volume into a machine running Windows. So I could (in theory) work with the...

    Dual-boot or Parallels?

Hi all: I'm planning to build a machine that will be running 10.13 High Sierra. I do use a couple WinDOS programs, but not very often. So I ask: should I make my machine a dual-boot with two drives (one macOS and one WinDOS 7), or just one drive with macOS and use Parallels to run the stuff...

    Recommendations for video card (+CPU?)

Hi! *waves* I just got the Dell 7060 and the Dell RX 460 video card, both recommended by @trs96 . The Dell came with WinDOS 10 installed - gonna change that soon - and the diagnostics tool HWInfo reports that the video card is indeed an AMD Radeon RX-460 "Polaris 11/Baffin Pro" so it's...

    Recommendations for video card (+CPU?)

That's the one I was looking at! BTW, how did you know it's the 512 SP version? I read it through and couldn't find any info on number of stream processes... I just ordered that one. I hope this is the one for me...

    Recommendations for video card (+CPU?)

@trs96 : You, dear friend, have been a fountain of information. PM me if you're ever in Philly; I owe you a few pints. The Yeston card is on its way back; I'll get the Sapphire PULSE RX 550 4G G5 640SP which is also on Dortania's list... ...feel free to advise me if this isn't a good...
