    X299 Big Sur Support

I agree with that sentiment wholeheartedly, and always do update within a couple of days of a release. I'm just interested to hear if there's anything specific that's changed of interest to our platform from someone who has been through the config changes.

Are there any fixes that are useful or relevant to X299 users?

    X299 Big Sur Support

Oh geez, now the machine locks up slowly over time after I take a Zoom call. I think it’s the use of the USB webcam

    X299 Big Sur Support

This appears to have fixed the problem - thanks for taking the time to let me know about it.

    X299 Big Sur Support

Yeah, I see this semi-regularly as well. I can trigger it by manually selecting the startup disk in the Startup Disk system preferences, and clicking the Reboot button — happens every time I do that. Also when installing system updates. Same fix: turn the machine off at the wall (although...

    Asus X299 - Support

I flashed my Titan Ridge 1.0, and then DisplayPort alt mode stopped working, and my machine wouldn't boot. I ended up going back to the original firmware, where things kind of work, so long as you don't look at them too closely.

    Asus X299 - Support

I just tried BIOS 3105 on my Prime X299 Deluxe, and it's not working for me. My Hack wouldn't get through the initial boot progress bar, so I reverted to 2002 and everything is working again. Not sure what's changed, and I didn't have time tonight to debug the problem.

    Asus X299 - Support

Is anyone successfully using an LG 5K UltraFine display via a firmware patched Titan Ridge Thunderbolt 3 card on their X299 setup? I tried flashing my Titan Ridge today, and it wouldn't power on the UltraFine display while I had the firmware flashed. TB header was hooked up properly, and it...

    Asus X299 - Catalina Support

@ICEVISION originally because OpenCore was so much faster than Clover to boot on my setup. Now… I dunno - it seems like there's less legacy support in OpenCore, which means it should (in theory) be quicker to improve. Acidanthera look after so much of the Hackintosh scene's workarounds and kexts...

    Asus X299 - Catalina Support

I'm seeing an unusual (but repeatable) behaviour with my X299 setup that I was hoping others had seen/solved. The specs of my build are listed in my signature, but I am using OpenCore 0.5.5 and running macOS Catalina 10.15.3. I have FileVault enabled for my boot drive. If I boot my rig from...

    Asus X299 - Catalina Support

This is why we end up with thousand page threads that are impossible to follow. As an X299 user I don't want/need to hear about (and filter out) issues for an unrelated motherboard series, but hey, it's a free world, and you sound like you're going to do whatever you feel like doing :thumbup...

    Asus X299 - Catalina Support

This would be the polite point for you to start a new thread dedicated to your decidedly not X299 motherboard, and continue the conversation there.

    Asus X299 - Catalina Support

@xerox24 yeah, it's broken. Someone mentioned that the MSR unlock state in the BIOS menu is broken - it's always locked, which prevents macOS from booting without a kernel patch. Stay with BIOS 2002 until ASUS release an update to fix the issue (which could be months).

Oh, excellent, a bug. Let's see if/when ASUS fixes this one :|

    Asus X299 - Support

Heads up: I did a test run with ASUS' Prime X299 Deluxe v3006 BIOS update today, and I could not my build to boot using OpenCore 0.5.5. I had to revert to BIOS version 2002. It goes without saying that if you don't have a reason to update your BIOS: maybe don't (at least without setting aside...

    LG UltraFine 5K Build

Yes, it does work with 5K resolution. My board is not the Designaire. It is the Prime Deluxe. It's the 2016 model - the A series that was release first with WiFi shielding issues. Yeah, it's not quick to wake from sleep. Only a few seconds longer than my MBP does with the same display. The...

    LG UltraFine 5K Build

@watug I don't know of any recently updated guides. I use a Titan Ridge card with my ASUS Prime X299 Deluxe motherboard, but everybody has different use cases, and many people see quite different results with similar hardware. I couldn't make a recommendation that you bother with Thunderbolt 3...

    LG UltraFine 5K Build

@watug you'll find that you can only get 4K resolution out of a DP to USB-C connector. You need 2 x DP 1.2 leading into 1 x Thunderbolt 3 out for this to work, currently - that's what the LG displays expect. You can't avoid a Titan or Alpine Ridge card if you want this to work at full resolution.

    LG UltraFine 5K Build

Try with pikera initially. That works for me, although sometimes I still need to unplug and replug the display to get full 5K resolution.

    LG UltraFine 5K Build

Interesting. Is this the new model? I have one of the very early models (A or B) - it only seems to support DP1.2.
