dvd player

Hi guys The software "Automator", "DVD Player" and Maps (standard mode) does not work properly. Automator and DVD players are not starting up ... Does anyone have the same problem? what could it be?

Whener i open dvd playerl, I get "There was an initialization error. A Valid DVD Drive could not be found. [-70012]" Any help would be appreciated.

I am running ML 10.8 and every time i try to open dvd player it says there is no valid dvd drive...I have the sony optiarc and mac recognizes it but dvd player doesn't...PLEASE I NEED HELP
