After an update to 10.6.8, a lot of Multibeasting, repairing permissions and finger crossing,
network is not working.

Installed Lnx2Mac's Realtek driver, both from Multibeast and the stand-alone installer.

No Avail.
System Profiler / Extensions => the RealtekRTL81XX is NOT appearing.
System Preferences / Network => no reaction, beachball, jams the Control Panel.

I'm sure there are some residues that stop the driver from working... but where ?

I read some posts about IOnetworkingfamily.kext.
Should this be installed ? Where's the best source ?

thanks

I did that update yesterday and had some problems too. Most are fixed but now my model is mac mini and before it was mac pro. I don't know if that makes any difference as far as performance goes. I don't have onboard sound but that's not really an issue for me because I use a professional sound card.
I've used multibeast 3 times since the upgrade. When I first did the update my mouse and keyboard wouldn't work so I gad to use iboot and them multibeast. It has been a good learning experience for me but.

Keep us posted on the fix.

Isn't the "Mac Pro" thing a cosmetic touch only ? Mine doesn't say it.
I won't mind if it said ASUS !

The most annoying thing is that during the installation process,
while I was battling fiercely with the graphics card resolution,
I HAD NETWORK GOING.
I was actually browsing through tonymac.

But somewhere along the way, with a restart, it went away.

Have you tried DSDTs specifically for your MB or is there one?

Does the DSDT has to be on the desktop ?
I don't have one, and when the system ran with 10.6.5 for 18 months it didn't have either.

I had one in the root of the boot drive, it was named after the Mobo. [not DSDT.aml]

Plus does the DSDT has network configuration in it ?
In Multibeast installation they say that network should be installed separately. Which I did.

Next step: sacrificing a virgin router to the lord of ethernet.

Yes check out the DSDT data base to see if your board is on there and download it and follow the instructions and put it on your desktop.
