Here is how I installed SL 10.6.5 on the following configuration:

GB X58A-UD7
Intel i7 950
4 Gig of RAM for install. 8 Gig RAM after install.
SATA LG DVD Drive
EVGA 9800 GT
WD Green 500 Gig

Build
------
Followed tonymac install guide with iBoot_2.5.2_tonymacx86.com
Bios Changes: Set AHCI and HPET to 64
Booted using iBoot_2.5.2 and installed Snow Leopard 10.6.3
Upgraded to 10.6.4 and Multibeast 2.5.1 with the following settings:
EasyBeast
Rebuild Caches
Repair Permissions
NVEnabler

After all got installed rebooted from hard disk.
No sound and no Ethernet. Installed Lnx2Mac's RealtekRTL81xx using KextBeast and again Rebuild Caches and Repair Permissions.
Rebooted and got Ethernet.

Then:

Upgraded to 10.6.5 and rebooted.

All ok but sound. Then:

Ran Multibeast again with the following selected
LegacyHDA ALC889
HDAEnabler ALC889
AppleHDA 10.6.2 Rollback
again Rebuild Caches and Repair Permissions.

Reboot into 10.6.5 and all is working so far!!!

One final thing from muktibeast:
USB 3.0 Support
again Rebuild Caches and Repair Permissions.

Reboot and now I need some 3.0 device to test.

Do not have words to tell all of you that made this so easy. What can I say it is just fantastic!!! Had to share my experience to all.

How come you didn't use a DSDT? There is one for your board in the database.

Because I started doing things this way and I am completely ignorant of the DSDT way. I have another drive and will give it a try when I get a chance. Will it be even better? It rocks as it is (IMHO).

Thanks!

Yes, less kexts more vanilla.

OK. Will give it a try.

I am glad I did the DSDT install. First I upgraded the bios using the Qflash method described by lnx2mac in http://lnx2mac.blogspot.com/p/perfect-hackintosh.html. Then dowloaded the corresponding DSDT file from this site: DSDT-GA-X58A-UD7-2.0-FB.aml and installed everything with the latest iboot and multibeast. All I needed to install was the audio part and the USB 3.0 part. I think it is even better than before. :headbang:

Thanks all!
