Received my LG 31um97 http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OKSEVTY/?tag=tonymacx86com-20.

It should do 4096x 2160 @60hz, but I only get 3840x2160 @ 30hz, maximum.

I am running Win 8.1 and OSX 10.9.3(mavericks). Same problem on both OS.
With Display Port 1.2 enabled on the monitor, I get 4096x 2160, but when I select it the screen just goes black. Without display port 1.2 turned on, I only get 3940x2160 @30hz, no higher options.

MSI GTX 780 w/ display port

The monitor works via HDMI, but at an even lower resolution and hz. I tried a very short DP cable and same problem.

Reading up on the monitor, it said that the 780 could handle it at full resolution, so I'm a bit confused! Would upgrading to Yosemite or El Capitan help? Not sure I can do that with my current hardware.

I am using the same monitor running on a 780 card via display port. If you scroll down the monitor reviews on Amazon it seems that the LG is quite picky on the type of display port cable used. I bought this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002XVYZ82/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it works fine at 60fps at 4k.

Thanks for your response. I'll try that cable, then try upgrading to Yosemite.

EDIT: That cable you offered did not work. I went crazy and order 4 more, different companies and different lengths.
FINALLY one of them worked and I'll be returning the rest.

Glad it was simply a cable problem, not hardware problem. Although frustrating that none of the cables included in the purchase worked. Very silly.
