Dear All,
Just bought HP Pro-book 4430s which has got core i5 2410 (definitely HD 3000).
Product number: LJ811PA#UUF

the problem is...
1. if I boot with the USB stick with BIOS set as default... it gets stuck at apple grey screen ..the rotation just stops.
2. in ONLY -v mode I see that it gets stuck with below details.

ACPI_SMCPLatformPlugin::startForReal - waitForService(resourceMatching(AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement) timed out
Transcript Offline - Buffer Allocate [181000] failed
com_lnx2mac_RealtekRTL81xx: Ethernet address 2c:41:38:0a:da:23

3. in -x cpus=2 busratio=23 with all default on BIOS... I see the opening installation screen but none of the keyboard / touchpad works...

what to do? what am I missing/overlooking? please help me guys!

Re: [SOLVED] HP 4430s i5 2410: cant get past boot

thanks!

I re-created the USB using laptop support on unibeast and it worked...

what DOES NOT work:
Bluetooth, using external usb bluetooth dongle results in kernel panic :(
Wifi appears to be installed but does NOT detect any network...

how can I check my wifi model from mac? system util?

Hi,
thanks a lot for the feedback.. I already got it on the System Information... attaching the screenshot... My WIFI card is shown to be Atheros 9285. But NONE of the network around me is shown..

any idea how to fix it? I tried

I'm moving this thread to the 4530s sub forum.

These two laptops are identical, except screen size. So, follow the lion install thread, and it will enable everything for you!

:)

Can you open the back real quick and see what the model number on the card is? My 4430s shipped with an atheros AR5b195 and installing this kext (viewtopic.php?f=259&t=35475&hilit=AR5B195) helped out. I had to manually add the first wifi network but now it works great. Also I know the wifi on/off button acts as a brightness switch now but you might want to hit and hold it for a bit ONE TIME to try and turn it on.

EDIT: My card shows up as the 9285 as well and it is definitely NOT. You most likely have the 195 card like I do, in which case, install that kext in the thread above and then manually enter the first wifi network info (I used my smartphone to get the details) After that it should work all the time.

I have just checked my bios to get the info on WLAN + Bluetooth

the card is exactly what MATCHES the criteria

AR5B195-H

and Finally ... using Atheros AR5B195 kext package worked like charm!

Thanks to all!!!!
