Microsoft just announced its own series of Windows RT tablets (ARM Cpus), and Windows 8 Pro tablets, which have INTEL CPUS. Intel CPU, USB port, DisplayPort, hi res screen, multitouch, pen input... Hmm...

Pretty insane- don't think apple will ever make an Intel-based tablet. This thing could be a ton of fun to hack.

iOS- never. I'm talking full Mac OS X, given proper specs. :headbang:

Yes, yes it would. Suddenly, my iPad seems like a toy. I want 10.8 on my tablet!

Just read that it's definitely Ivy Bridge based- no word on pricing- most likely since they're calling it a Pro model, they'll be priced similarly to UltraBooks, $800-1200.

Powering Surface in its Windows 8 Pro incarnation is an Ivy Bridge i5 processor, though an NVIDIA-made ARM cortex CPU design will be released under the Windows RT moniker. Handling the heat put out by the Intel chip is what Microsoft calls "perimeter venting" or a series of integrated vents encircling the edge of the bezel, which itself is beveled.
