@chris1111 has a utility/driver that works with a couple of MediaTek WiFi cards. I am not sure if you have either of the cards listed, but it might be worth checking out just to make sure.

Good point @Edhawk. I'd forgotten about those. I checked them out with my own MediaTek problem and sadly they weren't the model needed. Worth checking again though.
